My Angel

Brynn's first tooth.  Daddy was pulling it out for her a Brynn was a little more than nervous.  I guess she must have heard about the story when her Daddy accidentally pulled out the wrong tooth in Anthony's mouth.  Oops!  :)
Brynnie Winnie's first tooth

......and another tooth the next night.
What does that equal?  2 teeth!

The YW took this picture for me as they each held their individual flower that goes in our YW vase.  SO CUTE!  I LOVE these girls!  As I look at this picture, I can think of something that EVERY SINGLE girl has taught me.

The YW put these lucky clovers in my bed one night with hugs and kisses.  They each wrote me a note and told me why they were lucky to have known me.  It touched my heart..............more than I can say.  My favorite clover said, "Sister Carnesecca, you pushed me to my LIMITS!"  She then simply signed her name at the bottom of the clover.  I laughed and laughed at that one.  Whew--she is probably glad I am out of there!  :)

My blog just got a little more interesting. :)

You may have read in one of my previous posts that we are moving to Morgan.  I knew that Morgan was a small town, but I guess I didn't really understand the meaning of "small town."  Here are a few experiences to liven up my blog and kick our adventures in Morgan off to a great start:

1.  As I took my kids to the Morgan Elementary School to register them for school, the secretary made a lasting impression on them.  As I tediously turned through page after page of the new student forms, Karen (the secretary) started up a conversation with my kids.  She asked them their names, ages, and what they liked to do.  She immediately assured them that they would have no trouble making friends because she could tell they were really nice.  After plenty of page turning, Cate started to tug at my pants to inform me that she needed a drink.  Karen said, "I'll take her.  In fact, why don't you all come with me and I will show you around while your mom signs papers."  She took them by the hand and with a cheerful smile, she escorted them through the school.  As we left the school and got in the car Brady said, "If everyone in Morgan is as nice as Karen, we will do just fine."

2.  A few days later, I headed up to Morgan (again) so that Brynn could meet her new 1st grade teacher.  With knees trembling, Brynn met up with a Kindergarten class as they divided the students into their new classes.  Brynn inched her way in the line as she looked at me like a deer in the headlights.  A kind kindergarten teacher said to a girl next to Brynn, "This is Brynn and she is new.  Can you be her friend?"  Without a second of hesitation, this 6 year old girl gently took Brynn's hand and held it in her own.  She then gave her the warmest, kindest smile I have ever seen.  She guided Brynn into the unfamiliar classroom and sat right next to her on the carpet.  After we left Morgan Elementary that day Brynn said, "Mom, I think I am going to make friends real easy next year."

3.  After visiting the school, we drove to the lot in Morgan where we are going to build our home.  A neighbor from across the way quickly walked over to introduce himself.  When I think of a small town cowboy, I think of this man.  Honestly, I felt like I went back in time in an old western movie--it was awesome.  He told me about the history of the land and he informed me of the life details of all of my neighbors.  In a thick accent, he asked me the names of my children.  After repeating "Brynn" five times he replied, "You youngin's always have to name your children such hard names nowadays.  You can't even pronounce 'em."  I think he will call my first daughter "Bren" for the rest of her life.  :)  After about two minutes (literally) of chit chatting, he got to business.  He said (again in a thick accent), "I need to ask you a pertinent question."  I have now learned that when someone says "pertinent" they actually mean "personal."  He continued, "You have the look and all, but are you LDS?"  I proudly affirmed positively to his question.  He then excitedly shook my hand again and said, "Good..........because I didn't want to have to do any proselytin'."  So honest.......  This may be one of my favorite conversations of the year thus far.

So, if this is what "small town" means, I'll have what they're having!  The people of Morgan are truly great people living in a great place.  Tune in for more "small town" stories.  :)

Women of Steel Tri

Well, I was signed up for the Women of Steel Triathlon last weekend, but I didn't train for it--at all.  So, I asked Julie Lewis and her sister (Wendy) if they would like to do a relay with me.  They graciously consented.  I did the swim, Julie biked and her sister ran.  Oddly enough............we took 1st place.  Let me tell you, I didn't have much to do with the win.  But, I did win a pair of Rudy Project sunglasses.........score!  :)

True Beauty Weekend

The True Beauty Weekend Event was last Friday and Saturday!  We heard from uplifting speakers and musical guests about what true beauty really is--inner beauty.  I want to give a HUGE shout out to my family and friends who supported me in this--I hope you had a great weekend!  For those of you who didn't attend...........you missed out!  :)  Here are some pics from the weekend:

Carmen Rasmusen Herbert--amazing!
Kris Belcher--one of the funniest women on the planet and our keynote speaker.
Our program for the evening.
The Garden Room at Thanksgiving Point
Kari (my partner in crime--and dear friend) and her grandma.  Kari is probably one of the most emotionally stable women I have ever met.  She told me she has never been offended in her life.  Isn't that amazing?!  We had some pretty good laughs as we planned this event--especially when things were less than perfect.  Kari is an eternal optimist and I sure love her!  Kari, we'll always have Kenny and Marie!  :)

My nieces: Courtney, Jessica and Kassidy.

Saturday was a casual day.  Do you like my mouth full of food in this pic?
My supportive fam:  Courtney, Jessica, Kassidy, Lori, Nan, Tammy, Mommy, Me
The technical support guy.  :)  Great job honey!

Earrings....

Brynn had been asking me for about two weeks to get her ears pierced.  After putting on fake earring stickers--and watching them fall off--for years, I simply told Brynn, "Whenever you are serious and really want to have your ears pierced, just let me know."  Well, last week she decided to take me up on the offer.  You would have thought that she won the lottery--she talks about her earrings all the time and she takes her "ear sanitizing" very seriously.

When Brynn was sitting in the chair ready to get her ears pierced, the worker started pulling out gloves and was getting the ear gun ready.  I casually asked her, "Do you do a lot of these in a day?"  She said, "Actually this is my first time."  Momma Bear came out in me and I said, "If you were piercing my ears that would be fine, but I would like someone experienced to do my daughter's ears."  So, she quickly found the "Piercing Pro."  As the "Piercing Pro" tried to mark Brynn's ears with the marker (about 6 times--seriously) I said, "Do you mind if I take your pen and do it?"  She handed it over and I marked it.  I am sure they were thinking, "She is driving us nuts."  Oh well, it was for my Brynnie!  :)
